Our 4th of July

I know this post is a little late, but I've been busy so you get it on the 6th.  I'll try harder next year.

Our day started out pretty normal.  We put on a sweet 4th of July outfit (I meant to decorate that shirt, but never got around to it), ate a yummy breakfast, and played together.

Never mind that his binkie is upside down...we haven't figured that part out yet.

We spent some time with the in-laws, then popped outside for a family photo.  Notice the red, white, and blue (well, Joe's blue, Nash is red, and I'm white, so we're a bit out of order).  And I look like hell...

Around 8:30 pm, we woke up a sleeping Nashie, strapped him into his car seat before he even had a chance to focus his sleepy eyes, and took a ride to the causeway to watch fireworks.  Seemed a bit crazy to be jockeying for a parking spot and running across a 4-lane highway with an infant in the dark, but you only have your first 4th of July once.  So we did it.

We were quite far away from where the fireworks were going off, but we knew it was even more of a zoo down closer in.  So all my pics are terribly fuzzy from both the lack of light and the distance.

Nash seemed more interested in the cars racing behind us on the street...and we were so far away he couldn't even hear the fireworks anyways.  Hey, at least he didn't get scared.

Yep, this is as good as any of my pics get.  Note to self, must figure out how to turn flash off when shooting in manual mode.  For some reason, my flash always goes off unless I'm in the specific "no flash" setting.  But then I can't adjust any others settings (like when trying to capture fireworks for instance).  Any ideas?

Steppin Out Saturday

It's my first official Steppin Out post, so hope it goes well!  We spent some time at the Grandparents house in Viera, so took our pics next to their pool.

Earlier in the day, Nashie graduated from Gymboree Level 1!!  We're excited because he is totally ready for Level II AND it's at 1 pm instead of 10 am.  So much more convenient.

Saturday Farmer's Market

I guess it's about time I wrote this post, since it's almost the NEXT Saturday.  Hahaha...I'm such a procrastinator sometimes.  Better late than never.

Last weekend, I convinced Joe to come to Gymboree with us because we were hoping to graduate.  It's this cute little ceremony where they give you your very own Gymbo, you take pics, they measure you...and it's his first little graduation.  Well, our normal teacher was not there, so no graduation for us.  Nash had a great time with all his little friends though...they haven't seen each other in a while because we haven't made it to Gymboree in a few weeks (10 am is just so darn inconvenient).

Afterward, we decided to finally go and check out this local farm that I found on the internet.   We've been to the closer Farmer's Market before, but I noticed all their stuff was from other countries, like it's like, what's the point?!

This place is a trio of local farmers who bring their stuff together and sell them.  They sell plants, veggies, fruit, honey, baked goods, eggs, and even goat's milk cheese.  But it is a bit of a drive for us...so Nash took a quickie nap on the way.  Turns out they didn't have much because they are moving to a new location, but I did score some sweet figs, a unique-looking squash, and a pineapple plant.

Nashie woke up just in time to meet a baby cow!  The little girl was the same age as him (6 months)...but she was huge!  Hard to believe they are so big...  You can't tell from the sour look on his face, but he liked her, I swear.

Friday's Fashion Wrap Up

It's the freakin weekend!  I couldn't be more excited...and it's a three day to boot!!  Anyways, let's commence with the regularly scheduled program.

Monday
Went kind of comfy today, but damn if that shirt didn't keep falling down or over or whatever.  Perhaps a bit too low cut for office work.
 Linen pants are Guess.
Shirt is Express.
Cardi is ancient H&M.
 Wedges are Charlotte Russe.
 Earrings are ??

Tuesday
Went for something a little unconventional today.  Sometimes you just gotta switch things ups.
 Silk Jumper is Bebe.
Cardi is H&M.
Shoes are Jessica Simpson that you've seen before (hey, I love them and they're neutral).

Wednesday
FINALLY wearing this business dress I bought a million years ago, but never quite had the right job environment to wear it in.  Here's to digging things out of your closet...and being a clothes hoarder.
 Dress is Express.
Shoes are Jessica Simpson.

Thursday
FORGOT TO TAKE A PIC!  Ugh, and my outfit was super cute.

Friday
Wearing my favorite jeans to the office today.  My last day of work (and sadly, fashion posting) before almost a month of Army duty.  Might as well enjoy it.

Jeans are Chip & Pepper bought in DC.
Shirt is actually a long tunic from Arden B.
Wedges are Charlotte Russe.
 Earrings are Charlotte Russe.

Well folks, this is the last Friday Fashion Wrap Up I will do until the last week of July!  But I will try to do some Steppin Out Saturdays, so my blog is still fashionable each week.

Thursday Bits

So it's been a kind of crazy week...feeling a bit out of sorts these last few days, but I'm determined to get back on track.  It all started here...

That's my silly self getting my hair done on Sunday.  I have gone to the same girl since I moved back from DC, so when I found out she was gone, I didn't know what to do.  Well, they said we have this guy Jeff available on Sunday.  I said, ok, sure I'll try it.  Big mistake.  It took the guy 3 hours and he hadn't even began to cut my hair (note:  it usually takes about 3 hours for color, cut, AND BLOWDRY).  I told him I just want to make it a little less maintenance by blending it with my natural color, but keeping some bold highlights around my face for when I have to play army and dress like a dude.  I told him we had done a pseudo-ombre style the last time, and he told me ombre would be more maintenance.  HUH?  First red flag.  Second red flag actually came first when he was late getting started with me because his previous client was unhappy.  Then he complained about her the whole time.

Just so you know, this is what I looked like before.

Needless to say my hair turned out awful.  The color is super ashy (exactly what I said NOT to do), the cut is uneven because he only had a short amount of time left after the color, and I didn't even get a blowdry (had to go home to take care of Nash). AND it ended up costing me $170!  That's insane by itself, but when you add in how bad my hair looks, it's criminal.  And I don't want to go back to get it fixed because he obviously doesn't know what he's doing.  Here's an after shot so you can see...although it doesn't show how "dead" my ends look from the semi-permanent ash blonde he put over them.

In baby news, Nash has been spending time at his Grandparents house up in Viera while Daddy is at work.  He seems to be doing really well...no sign of any separation anxiety or anything like that, thank god.  He has even been taking good naps, which we were really worried about.  And every night after work I drive up there and his mom makes us dinner (bless her heart), then we hang out until he's tired and needs to go home.  It's nice.

Yesterday they made the mistake of telling me they think Nash officially crawled.  I was like, oh no, he did not.  He did NOT crawl WITHOUT ME!!  lol...  We have a rule...he doesn't reach any milestones when I'm not around.  Even our nanny knows this...  So, a retraction was issued and we went on with the business of eating dessert.

I have a bunch of pics to post from last weekend and such, but have been busy every night so haven't had a chance.  So until then, here's a little something to tide you over.

Tears.

I just read the most gut-wrenching, heart-breaking, soul-shaking blog entry ever.  Like E.V.E.R.  The story is incredible, honest, painful, and beautiful.  Just don't read it while you're at work, like I did.

Photo from Enjoying the Small Things
Read it...I'm telling you, it's incredible.

Friday Fashion Wrap Up

Monday
Feeling like all black today...even though I'm cheerful, I am tired!

Sheer blouse and black under tank are both Express.
Wait, black sailor pants are EXPRESS too!!  Goodness.  Shoes, that you can't see, are Charlotte Russe.

Tuesday
Today was Hurricane Lock-In Day at work, but I ended up being the only one to dress up.  Thank god I was sensible enough to wear something I could change out of!
  Hurricane Couture!
Ok, here's my normal outfit!
Sweater is Arden B.
Dress is Charlotte Russe.
Shoes are Ah-maz-ing...by Shoe Dazzle.
Just a sunny little face shot for your enjoyment.

Wednesday
Keeping the short dress thing going a little longer since it's super hot out and I'm not meeting Joe and Muffin for lunch (so no playing/bending over/squatting involved).
Dress is delicious...oh, and from Guess.
Shoes are Jessica Simpson.
Accessories are from Express.

Going for cutely comfy today as I'm meeting my two loves at Moe's for lunch up in Viera.
Top is from Charlotte Russe (and is my new favorite!!).
Crops are Express.
Shoes are Jessica Simpson.
Earrings are Charlotte Russe (ancient).
This is what happens to your pants when you eat Mexican next to a grabby 6-month old.  Queso stains...real nice, kid.

Friday
Bringing back the Hippy!!  All jokes aside, I love this outfit...even though the top kept shifting around all day.  Annoying.
Sheer, lace top is from Charlotte Russe.
White under tank is from Express.
Skinnies I bought at Kohl's a while back.
Shoes are Charlotte Russe.
Dorky expression is courtesy of a long, rough week at work.
