Friday's Fashion Wrap Up - vol. 16

Coming to you from the unemployment line!  Haha, not really...I actually got another job already.  I'm totally kicking myself for not taking advantage of this time off and saying yes to work already.  To make matters worse, the job is only for four months and requires me to move to Jacksonville.  Which wouldn't ordinarily bother me (I like change), but I'm moving out of my house, prepping for my two week Army duty, and oh yeah, I have a family now.  All this makes for utter chaos...which is not what I had in mind for right now.

But on to the matter at hand.  This is what I wore today on my way to the salon.  I decided it was time to chop off the locks and get a little style going.  I think I've been falsely describing my style as hippy and vintage...when really it was just dull and lazy.

So, here's the first installment of the REAL casual Friday.

Jeans:  Hollister
Top:  Express
Belt: American Eagle
Wedges: Charlotte Russe
Sunnies: Target
Oversized Purse: Old Navy

I threw in these last two pictures so you can see my hair.  Super long.  Super drab.  HORRID roots.  It was just easy.  I'll post a picture of the new cut once I get it styled the way I like it...you know how that goes.

Friday's Fashion Wrap Up - vol. 15

It wouldn't be FFWU if I wasn't late in posting this, right?  Come on guys, right?  Anyone?  Bueller?

Well, sorry for the delay...my last day of work wasn't quite as laid back as I thought it would be thanks to a last minute project (typical...and largely why I'm leaving), Bubs being dropped off at 4:45 because Daddy had to be in work early, and my files not copying onto my hard drive properly.  All that amounts to me posting this late Saturday night while curled up in bed trying to shove the sickness down so I can be witty and cool...all for you guys.

Fail.

Ok, let's stick to what I do know...posting outfit pics...  This whole week at work I was super casual...just not feeling like getting dressed up since I knew it was my last week.  This was one of my more put together outfits of the week.

Jeans:  Express
Tank:  Old Navy
Vest:  Target

Necklace and Belt:  Charlotte Russe
Bracelet:  American Eagle

Shoes:  Jessica Simpson
Polish: makes me feel like summer every time I see my toes

Earrings:  Aldo Accessories (probably...or Charlotte Russe)

Of course my hair was wet, so all did was put it up in a pony tail, braided a small section, then wrapped it around the base of the pony.  Not too exciting for pictures...and I don't particularly care for pictures with wet hair.   New blog goal:  no more wet hair pics.

On a somewhat related note, I think I'm going to change my hair back to the way it used to be.  I've been growing it out and letting it be sort of dark...it's all very hippie and laid back and easy.  But I'm kind of over it.  I loved my hair when it was super layered and super blonde, so why the heck not.  Here's my favorite pic of me...and everyone who sees it says, "I loved your hair like that."  Noted.

Friday's Fashion Wrap Up - vol. 14

So, I quit my job this week.  I officially gave my two weeks on Monday, so next Friday will be my last day.  ::insert congratulatory applause here::  Trust me, it's a good thing...and no, I don't have another job as yet.  I'm just trying to refocus right now.

What this means to you is that this will be my second-to-last FFWU coming to you from Cumulus Media - Melbourne.  My outfits in the future will likely be more casual (which I think opens up a whole new world of outfits to post) and I will probably be more timely with my posts since I will have, well, more time.  hehe.

Here is my T minus 1 Week outfit:

Skinny Cargos: H&M (shhhh!  they're maternity's)
Tank:  Old Navy
Cardi:  Target

Bracelets: American Eagle and Express

Shoes:  Shoedazzle (there's no place like a shoe store)

Earrings:  Charlotte Russe

I decided to have a bit of fun with my work outfit this week, and I just happened to stumble across some sweet maternity cargos I forgot about.  Lo and Behold, they fit!  I just folded the belly panel down and wore a longish tank and BAM!  Love it when it works out like that.  I love this cardi too since its bright color just screams Spring.

On a side note, I really need to get my highlights done.  Yikes!

Friday's Fashion Wrap Up - vol. 13

Hahahaha, I'm so late on this one it's funny.  I mean, it's funny, right?  hehe, maybe not.  Anyways, I was out of the loop all weekend doing Army stuff (including a makeup on Friday), so I didn't get a chance to post this.  But here it is!  And the best part?  You'll get ANOTHER FFWU in just two days!  So you have to forgive me, k?

Here we go!

Skirt, Tank, and Cardi:  Old Navy
Shoes:  Shoedazzle
Earrings:  Charlotte Russe

Belt:  Charlotte Russe
Bracelet: Aldo Accessories (I think)

I normally do my hair like this when I have Army duty, so I was a bit hesitant to pull it out for work.  But I think it went well with the outfit...and I pulled out a few loose strands and fluffed it up a bit so it didn't look so Army stiff.

In case you didn't realize, I took a trip to Old Navy last week and pretty much snagged this entire outfit.  While I'm not the biggest ON fan (I think their clothes tend to fit funny), sometimes they really surprise me.  I have several cute, comfortable dresses from ON and now this outfit.  And I love how inexpensive they are...that way I don't mind buying a skirt with a crazy print that I may hate in a year.

Friday's Fashion Wrap Up - vol. 12 TWOFER!

Even though I told myself I was only going to focus on one outfit a week for FFWU so I wouldn't be so stressed and feel like I have to put together an awesome ensemble every day, I didn't follow the rules this week.  I took my original photos early on, but then had an idea for casual Friday (even though my original idea didn't pan out...the second outfit is an example of late-night outfit evolution).

But we're getting ahead of ourselves...let's start with outfit #1.  It was unseasonably cold this week..and probably the last "cold snap" (as my husband would say) of the year, so I took full advantage and busted out some winter items.

Leggings:  Arden B
Tank: Express
Blazer: H&M
Scarf:  New York & Co
Boots:  Aldo
Earrings: Charlotte Russe

Ring: Charlotte Russe

And here's outfit #2!

Jeans:  Red Engine from Denim Bar in DC
Shirt: Old Navy

Belt and Big Ring: Express
Bracelet:  American Eagle
Mint Nailpolish from Sally Hanson

Shoes: Shoedazzle a billion years ago...and this is the first time I've worn them!

Mint earrings to match nail polish from Charlotte Russe...also a billion years ago.
Wet hair = lazy Friday

Apparently mint is the color of the season, woot woot!  These pics are a bit blurry since I switched lenses on the hubs and he hasn't gotten use to it yet.  But it's soft and lovely, so I can't complain.  Husband also couldn't believe I had a pair of shoes that I had never worn!  Truth is, I have a ton of shoes.  So, it's actually quite unbelievable that I don't have MORE shoes I never wear...  Time to buy more shoes!

Friday's Fashion Wrap Up - vol. 11

This was outfit #2 of the week...outfit #1 was a waste because I was running late for work, so I had no time to take photos.  But...the good news is that this outfit is actually better!  The other one had some of the same items from last week, so I like that this one totally mixes it up!

And I knew this would be the outfit of the week when the first two people I saw at work made comments.  I even ran over to Target in the afternoon and had the checkout lady compliment my shoes, so they must be good!  Thanks, Target Lady!
So, here goes!

Trousers:  H&M
Tank: American Eagle
Vest: Charlotte Russe
Belt:  Express
Shoes: Aldo
Earrings: Charlotte Russe
Necklace: Charlotte Russe
Bracelets: H&M
Watch: Stolen from the Hubs

Here are the magic shoes...not terribly uncomfortable, but my feet did hurt at the end of the day.  I do love how perfectly the necklace matched the shoes...

Note:  Peg-legged pants make thou butt look bigger

I didn't have enough time to do anything fancy with my still-wet hair, so a quick little pony had to do.  Later in the day, I realized how bad it looked so I took it out and went au naturel.   It must also be said that an older lady went by during her daily morning walk, and here we were, standing in front of our house taking fashion shots.  Uncomfortable, much?

As a side note, I'm super stoked for my rental 50mm to arrive tomorrow so I can test it out.  I'm thinking it will make my weekly fashion posts even better!  Now, if it were only Friday afternoon...

Friday's Fashion Wrap Up - vol. 10

It's still Friday, right?  You'll have to forgive me for my late post...I'm off doing Army duty and weapons qual, staff call, dinner, and a run were on the schedule before I could sit down and knock this post out.

I had a few good outfits this week, but this one took the cake.  I think I stepped outside the box a bit AND I even did my hair (differently than I normally do, anyways).  Let's see what you think.

Dress: H&M
Sweater and Earrings: Charlotte Russe
Belt:  Target
Shoes:  Jessica Simpson

I've worn this dress a number of times,
but the addition of a weathered brown belt
and a soft cream sweater
gives a rather stuffy dress a rustic, almost bohemian feel.

I just french braided my hair all the way down on each side,
then wrapped the ends around each other
and pinned (and pinned and pinned) in place.
Pull out a few wispy pieces in front
and the look goes from elementary school to bohemian cool.

Now I know where all those forehead lines come from...
Note to self: stop raising eyebrows ASAP.

Friday's Fashion Wrap Up - vol. 9

This is the first post following my new fashion feature plan...featuring one really good outfit each week, rather than filling all this space with outfits that are, well let's just say it, meh.

I got a lot of compliments on this one...perhaps it was that people were expecting me to return from a sick day wearing the business casual equivalent of a potato sack (trust me, if jammies were authorized, I'd do it). Or maybe I just managed to put a good one together... You be the judge.

Skirt:  Express
Ruffled Tank: New York & Co
Cardi: H&M
Belt:  Stolen from another dress in my closet

Ring: Aldo Accessories
Wedding and Engagement Ring:  Zales
Skinny Waist:  c/o 24 hour flu

Earrings and Bracelet:  Charlotte Russe

Shoes: Jessica Simpson circa 2005
Pasty Skin: c/o no free time

I must admit, I caught some flack from a certain fashion-conscious-even-if-he's-batting-straight coworker of mine for pairing a black and gray ensemble with the brown belt and shoes.  I politely informed him that it's exactly this unexpected pairing that takes the outfit from office ordinary to casually cutting edge.  Agree or disagree?

Friday's Fashion Wrap Up - vol. 8

My apologies to all those out there who enjoy reading these posts every week...I haven't done away with them completely, I was merely taking a break.  Yes, it's true - even I get worn out trying to put new outfits together every day.  Perhaps in the future this feature will morph into something different, where I extensively feature one or two outfits a week...really focusing on the details.  Something more along the lines of Love Maegan, which I love (whose latest fashion entry was the inspiration for my Friday look).  Although she definitely has better pieces, aka more money, than I do!  And if you haven't checked out the images of her closet...do so!

So, for all my fellow fashionistas out there, here we go!

Monday
Pants: Express
Tank:  H&M
Vest: Charlotte Russe
Shoes: Jessica Simpson (which are so desperately falling apart, I'm sad)
Earrings and Cuff:  Aldo Accessories

Tuesday
::gasp::  I left my camera at work...my bad.

Wednesday
Skirt and Vest:  H&M
Tank: Pacsun
Belt and Earrings:  Charlotte Russe
Wedges:  Target
Bangle:  Gift

Thursday
Pants:  Charlotte Russe years ago
Tank: Express
Cardi:  Target

Friday
Jeans, Blazer, and Jewelry: Charlotte Russe
Tank:  Express
Shoes:  Shoedazzle

So there you go...another week of fashion fun!  I have to admit, I dress way better when I know I will be taking these pics, so I really should just keep up with it.  Sometimes life gets to be a bit much, and taking those extras minutes to match something (or not match something if that's the look I'm going for) just doesn't seem the best use of my time.  But not to fear!  FFWU is here to stay!  So thanks to all of you who took notice and said, "hey chick, where's my fashion?"

Side note:  Let me know what you think of the new blog design!  I'm playing around with a few new things, but I'm open to suggestions/tips/tricks, etc...!

Friday's Fashion Wrap Up - vol. 7

Crazy week, as usual.  Except that I got sick right in the middle of the week, immediately following a teeth cleaning.  Has that ever happened to you guys?  My throat is killing me, my whole body hurts, and my head is pounding.  Thought I might have the flu for a bit there, but I'm slowly getting better.

Here's the fashion:

Monday

Totally late leaving for work, so no picture was taken.  It was a boring outfit anyways, since I was still super sore from the Princess Half Marathon I ran on Sunday (post on that to come!).

Tuesday

Dress: Forever 21 (I think)
Cardi: H&M
Flats:  Target
Earrings:  Charlotte Russe
Bracelet:  Express

Wednesday

Pants:  Express
Shirt:  Charlotte Russe
Shoes:  Jessica Simpson

Thursday

Pants and bracelet:  Express
Top:  H&M
Shoes:  Jessica Simpson
Earrings:  Charlotte Russe

Friday

Jeans:  Express
Tee: Target
Blazer:  Charlotte Russe
Shoes: Shoedazzle

That's it, folks!  Gotta run...sorry for the lack of witty commentary!  More next week...
