Fall is in the Air...

We've been sooo busy with all these lovely fall activities, I've barely had time to rest, let alone blog about it all!  But secretly I was hoarding all these amazing pics so I could share them with you all at once.  Get out your warmer clothes and pour yourself some hot apple cider...

Our first big "fall event was Boo at the Zoo.  Our awesome local zoo put this thing together every year for the kiddos, and we were really excited to finally be able to go (without looking like two childless weirdos hanging out by ourselves).

Bubs wore his fall colors and had a real blast.  He even got to stay up late!

Checking out all the animals and sportin' our very first tattoo (it's a dragon)!

Our next big adventure was the Pumpkin Patch!  It was really just a church parking lot transformed, but we live in Florida so we'll take what we can get.  Nash seemed a bit weirded out by scarecrow...

Yes, that's a giant hairy spider perched precariously over my husband's head

Finally, we all got dressed up and headed to historic Cocoa Village for trick-or-treating and family festivities.  Even my mom got in on the action!

Star Wars Family!
The best part?  Our costumes were a hit!!  We saw a few other Yodas, but NONE of them were accompanied by a Leia, Han, AND a Chewie.

Bubs and I are about to split a mini butterfinger...shhhhh!  Don't tell Daddy!

I love this little man.

Since tomorrow is Halloween, we are going to stay home, drink apple juice while watching scary movies, and hand out candy to any trick-or-treaters we might get.  Sad to think Bubs' first Halloween is almost over, but we've really lived it up, so we've got lots of memories to add to his baby book.

May the force be with you, young one.

Friday's Fashion Wrap Up Vol. 7

This week was uber special because it's BIRTHDAY week!  Yep, that's right, I'm officially older as today is my 29th birthday, so look for a special birthday post in the next few days.  But for now, we've got some fashion to discuss.  This week I issued myself a challenge:  wear sparkles every day.  Let me tell you, there were definitely times I wanted to abandon ship and just wear something comfy because a lot of my sparkly stuff is just not comfortable.  But I grinned and beared it, and here we go!

Monday

Pants and Wedges: Charlotte Russe
Sparkly Tank:  Express
Cardi:  H&M

Tuesday
Sequin-Trim Tank Dress:  Express
Faux Fur Vest:  DIY (see Love Meagan for tutorial)
Belt (hidden) and Earrings:  Charlotte Russe
Shoes:  Jessica Simpson

Wednesday

Sequin Leopard Dress:  Rodarte for Target
Blazer:  Off a pant suit from Dillard's
Belt:  Express
Shoes:  Jessica Simpson

Thursday

Pants, Shirt, and Sequin Vest:  Express
Earrings:  Charlotte Russe
Shoes:  Aldo

Friday (My Birthday!!!)

Jeans, Cuff, and Sparkly Tank:  Express
White Under Tank:  American Eagle
Earrings:  Aldo Accessories
Shoes:  Shoedazzle

I did it!  I managed to sneak sparkles into every single outfit I wore this week...even if it was just something subtle.   I like these kinds of challenges...may have to make it a regular occurrence.

My birthday was kinda craptastic since I had to work (and it was one of the busiest work weeks ever) and Joe had to work that night.  But we did a little celebration in between me coming home and him leaving, so it wasn't all bad.  And Joe's birthday was on Sunday, so we celebrated family style.

Women of Cumulus - Part II

This week's feature girl is Tiffany!  Tiffany is known around the office for her boisterous personality and booming voice, and is often seen flaunting sweet little outfits (like today), so it makes sense that she is the next to make it on the blog.

Tunic: INC via Macy's
Leggings:  Express

Stunning!  Who says horizontal stripes can't be fab?!   She looks killer...

Shoes:  Nine West
Thanks to Tiffany for being a good sport, and for all those who nominated her.  Keep 'em coming, folks.  We have too many cute ladies around here and only one blog post a week!

In other notes, I have been fielding some questions about the possibility of doing a Men of Cumulus Media feature.  What do you guys think?  We have well-dressed guys around here, and let's face it, the ladies shouldn't have all the fun, right? Click To Vote For Us @ Top Baby Blogs Directory!

Impromptu Photo Shoot

When we did Nash's last birthday post, we knew his outfit was too cute to just take one pic.  So we headed outside to find some cool backdrops.
This is my first attempt at a more formal photo shoot following my first ever photography class last week, and let me tell you...my hat is off to the pros.  I have no idea how they get kids to look at the damn camera!  I was whistling, snapping my fingers, yelling "Nashie", making laser sounds, you name it!  More often than not, this is what I got...

Cute, but not quite was I was hoping for.  And there was no way he was gonna sit there and let me take pics.

Check out his sweet, er, checked shoes...

This one is my favorite...because he has been making this face NONSTOP for the last two weeks.  He has figured out how to blow some serious raspberries, drool flying and everything!  Too bad I didn't catch that on film...

What do you think?  I know I need to find some better backdrops...but baby steps.  This time I really hunkered down on composition, lighting, and focus.  Trying to apply some of the tips I learned in class and I get my $45 worth! Click To Vote For Us @ Top Baby Blogs Directory!

First Haircut

We reached a MAJOR milestone on Saturday.  Brace yourselves, folks.

We had to cut the hairs.  Yep, you heard it right.  The shaggy 'do had to go.  My mom was tired of me referring to my kid as "homeless," and I couldn't bear the sight of him constantly tugging at his too-long locks.  See for yourself:

So off they went.

I took him to this kid-friendly haircut place called Snip-Its.  Totally cute and worth the $22 with tip that I paid.  And he did great!  He didn't fidgit much at all (thank you cherry sucker and strategically placed tv playing cartoons).  And I was even able to take some cute photos.

He seemed to like it when she sprayed the top to wet it down...or maybe he just wanted to drink it.

Those are some long hairs!

And just how did it turn out, you ask?

Amazing!!

No idea what he is eating here, but it doesn't look good

He looks like such a little man now!  All day yesterday, I would look at him and be like, my god you are so friggin cute!!  Best part was that they gave me a certificate and a little bag of his hair to keep in my baby book!  Totally worth $22.

Week in iPhone Pics #12

So this should be week 13, buuuuut, we missed last week.  Life happens, you know...

We have sooooo much stuff to blog about around here...cannot wait.  But we gotta get through the Week in iPhone first.  One step at a time.  Linking up with Amy at a good life...cause she rocks...and so does little P-Ray.

The details:

Monday was an awesome day...because all my pics are of Bubs!  Nothing else seemed worthy of my click-click.  So we partied at the place play during lunch, as usual.  Bubs is really starting to get into it and makes all kinds of friends while he is there.  At work, we sat down for a delicious dinner followed up by some even more delicious grapes.  We do healthy desserts here...until tomorrow anyways!  After dessert, the sugar rush helped Bub climb into (and out of and into and...) his basket.  He also played "get mama" in the tunnel.

Tuesday was ANOTHER work day, and one of two days during the week that I cover down on the front desk so Melanie can go to lunch.  The eye in the sky watches over me so I don't listen to other stations.  After work, Nash conquered the basket from another angle and we were so proud of him, we took him to Del's for some late night ice cream.  After stuffing ourselves, Bubs decided he wanted to pick all the dots off his bath mat.

Wednesday is Sales Meeting day!  My iPhone has become the cool new way to capture notes, so I snap a pic and send to the boss.  We also a staff meeting at lunchtime, so on the way to get the food for everyone, I stopped at Panera (my fave) and got a Pink Ribbon bagel in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Bummer of it was that I not only hit crappy construction on the way back to work, but the food (chinese hibachi) leaked all over my car and eventually my clothes.  Ugh.  I took out my stress on the sidewalk with a little post-work walk.

There wasn't really much to say about Thursday except that it was cold.  I know what you're thinking...59 isn't cold!  Oh, but it is when you're a Floridian who HATES the cold.  70 is too cold, people.  And by the way, turn down the darn A/C...

I was super busy at work on Friday, but Joe was nice enough to send me a pic of the little man going for a walk in his new Puma jacket.  I think he looks like his Grandma in that pic!  In the afternoon, I ran over to this maternity/baby consignment sale to see if I could snag anything good.  There wasn't too much, but I did found an awesome toddler swing!  It was totally on his Christmas list and I totally got it for 50% less that it sells for normally!  Woo hoo!  Before bedtime Friday, Nash showed me his awesome skills.  FYI...my kid can dunk and he's only 10 months old.

So that's it for this week, but we've got tons more coming!

Wordless{ish} Wednesday (on a Thursday)

Ok, so this post is no where near "wordless" per se, but it's still a good post.

I snapped a bunch of pics of Nash the other day and stumbled across them when I was doing his 10-Month post.  OMG serious cuteness, so I felt like I needed to share.  I'll be posting them on Facebook too, but I feel like I should save all the good pics for my readers on here (no need to spoil the surprise for those of you who come via facebook).

Hanging out by the window with Scoots...
looking for neighbors and/or garbage trucks to wave to.

This is such a "whatchya doing, Mama?" look.

He's a scream, let me tell you.

Ten Months Old

I hate that I'm late with this post, but I wanted to do a vlog, then decided to wait until he's one year, then start the monthly vlogs.  And then the Hubs and I kept forgetting to do the little man's stats, so I could really do the post.  But I'm ready now!!  Here we go...

If you've been following every month, you'll notice something's different.  We used to use these cute little signs that say how old he is and have a little graphic that depicts what month it is (like an Easter bunny for April, fireworks for July).  Well, we've gotten to the point that as soon as we set him in the chair, he grabs said sign and proceeds to crumple it up into a ball and shove it in his mouth.  So we nixed that and went with the digi version.

Now for the details:  My little baby boy is so grown up now.  He's full on walking (took at least 15 steps in the mall play place yesterday) and takes every opportunity to practice, practice, practice.  If one of us gives him even just a finger to hold onto, he walks forever!  Most of the time, I think he gets so excited that he's walking on his own that he loses balance.  He crawls at lightning speed, so Joe and I are constantly running after him to make sure he's not getting into trouble.  He is boy - through and through - and will leap and tumble without a second thought.  His hair is still blonde and his eyes are holding steady at this weird blue with hazel centers.
Physical stats:  He's huge!  Even though he hasn't grown that much in the last month, he's still remarkably big for his age.  Everytime we take him somewhere or introduce him to someone, they are like, wow, he's bigger than I thought!  He's measuring at almost 30 inches and 23 pounds, and is still very solid. He has big hands and big feet...and has grown out of most of his size 4 shoes!  He's wearing 12-18 month clothes and we just packed up a slew of 9-12 month-ers that just don't make the cut anymore. Still rockin' the size 3 Target diapers (or size 4 in Huggies).  He has 7 teeth now since he just got his third one on the bottom.  Poor boy is such a drooler!

Talking:  Even though he manages to spout out a "mama," dada," and "baba,"  Joe and I doubt he actually knows what he's saying.  We just started Baby Signs class, so we're working on teaching him all the baby sign language stuff.  We're hoping it will help with some of his frustration, since he seems to get bent out of shape when we don't understand what he wants.

Eating:  This boy can eat!  He eats just about everything (still), but he definitely has some favorites.  He loves any kind of toast, but especially when it has peanut butter on it (we tried it and no allergies!).  He has firmly decided that he wants to feed himself, so he tends to smack away anything that comes on a spoon (unless he can manage to grab the spoon himself).  Last night he devoured a small portion of veggie sloppy joes with wheat bread, steamed carrots, and diced grapes.  We really try to get him to eat whatever we are eating, although I always make sure he has a ton of fruit and veggies (which we neglect sometimes).  He is FINALLY taking charge of the sippy cup!  I was getting nervous because I really want to ditch the bottle at 12 months, but up until the last few weeks, he wanted nothing to do with that sippy cup.  Now he does it all himself and chugs whatever's in there (mostly watered down apple juice, green juice, or just water).

Other Notes:  I think this kid might be an athlete.  I know a lot of parents say that about their kids because it's a desirable trait, but I'm freakin serious!  He has figured out how to make baskets on his little basketball hoop (and by make baskets I mean take anything that's round and resembles a ball and put it through the hoop), he is super strong, and is getting better and better at throwing a ball/playing catch.  We literally sit on the floor and toss a ball at him, he gets it, then throws it "back."  He originally couldn't figure out how to let go of the ball, but he's mastered that and the ball goes pretty far.  He just doesn't have any aim yet...that thing will go in any direction, so we have to watch out or get smacked in the face!

The Future:  This is hands down our favorite time of year.  We can't wait to take him to the pumpkin patch, to Boo at the Zoo, and trick-or-treating all within the next two weeks.  My and Joe's birthdays are coming up, then we have cooler weather (which means more trips to the beach), Thanksgiving, baking all things pumpkin, Nash's first birthday, Christmas, and all that fun holiday stuff!
